OFFICE 34

Nariman Point, Mumbai, 2020
Residential

On the edge of the city, overlooking the Arabian Sea, this office site was an unused and battered space. Office 34 was an unassuming office space, demonstrating plenty of potential. This multi-generational family office space was created for three brothers, their wives and their respective ventures.

A white canvas expanded into a three dimensional workspace is devoid of any jarring objects, retaining only clean lines and anchor elements resulting in the creation of a minimal, office space. The linchpin of this project was to maintain transparency and untarnished lines while avoiding any unmitigated elements.

On entering the office, the reception desk clad in panels of mirror, topped with redwood maintains the minimal and light theme of the office. The slick white framed glass walls demarcate the brother’s private cabins, providing visual connectivity while maintaining their individual spatial constitutions. The cabin furniture was designed in clean shapes and lines in dark red wood and black fittings. The sheer tones and apple-white walls along with the northern diffused light from the uninterrupted windows, enhance the workspace. An airy white minimal box was created with pieces of black embroidered fabric artworks at ends. The contrasting nature of the colours makes the art seem to anchor the space.
