Founded by Nishil Shah in 2019, Studio Hasta is an interdisciplinary practice encompassing all things - art, architecture and aesthetics. The studio focuses on approaching today’s multi-layered design challenges by considering the affinities and differences in ourselves and our surroundings. With a keen eye for details, quality and aesthetics, we strive to combine the best of craftsmanship and resources with practical design principles.
The name, Hasta, pronounced as h^st or हस्त pronounced is the thirteenth lunar mansion, literally translated meaning - the hands. This constellation prominently deals with the skills of the hands, used professionally to craft, build and heal. The one that blesses with the ability to create and manifest any object of desire with their hands like a Midas touch!
Intuitive thoughts and dexterity of our hands bring about the visions into reality, creating the magic which constantly evolves our civilisation. The ever-changing intricate relatonships between the elements constantly demand for new technological innovations using the regional resources, to create new socially engaging forms and thoughtful marvels.
Engaged in working with the old and the new, modern and traditional, Studio Hasta is a studio of thinkers and creatives, located in Mumbai, India. Our approach to design is holistic and fluid, sensitively understanding the subtle nuances, potential and limitations of the context and the user, to speculate efficient solutions for an enriching, memorable and timeless experience. We work on projects across comprehensive degrees, right from micro-scale products to extensive institutional projects.
