Located on a low-lying site surrounded by hills, off Lonavala in Waksai, at the Rajpal Farmhouse, we added an outdoor swimming pool extension and landscaped pockets, bringing in tropical luxury.

A large 50 by 30 foot pool deck was added to the north of the farmhouse, such that it gets an uninterrupted view of the wilderness and hills. In concurrence with the uncut landscape around, the extension offers a multitude of sylvan textures through its wooden slatted canopy that filters the light in the day. The three open sides offer cross ventilation, keeping the environment on the deck comfortable and breezy at all times. Water nozzles fixed on the roof, gently spritz water into the pool, making it playful and entertaining.

The bar with cane stools in the corner, with an informal 10-seater breakfast table adjacent to it naturally achieves a sense of coherence. On the opposite end, we created a 12-seater lounging area overlooking the deck and the landscape. Black and white patterned tiles on the bar and the steps along with the lanterns bring in a taste of Moroccan aesthetics. A pair of sun-loungers were placed along the longer edge for solitude and rest from the social ends. The pool with its mood-changing lights convert the deck into a celebratory dance floor as soon as the sun sets. The arrangement of utilities and furniture along with lights, let the space be used during day and night.
