Home to an art-admiring family, Apartment 602 in Pali Hill is an ode to contemporary style with a dash of ethnicity. An inherently modest space was curated with a collection of eclectic furniture pieces, adding to the existing ones.
At the entrance, the contemporary and the traditional were arranged together with two pieces. An old antique sanguine Chinese medicine cabinet that greets visitors and a striking pair of two wooden marquetry tables with crimson flamingos flying across the golden sun was positioned beside the sofa. The rouge of the flamingoes and table legs complement the red apothecary unit - nestled between plants. At the far end near the window, we sourced a mother of pearl inlay mirror piece from the 12th century Ottoman empire, adding a very welcomed pzazz to the grey Venetian stucco finish walls. All pieces offer themselves to any given setting considering their one-of-a-kind shape and orientation.
We customised a rotating carousel bar unit on wheels with ample storage for all types of glasses along with small plates; such that they can use while hosting their friends and family. Besides this large unit, we designed a small cane bar trolley as well for their daily use.
Two conceptually similar shaped sofas were positioned facing each other. But both are completely different in character, details, and fabric - maintaining their individuality. The dancing figurines on faded rust fabric upholstered sofa gave a celebratory mood. A pair of three-layered wooden snack tables were positioned on either side for both sofas, complementing the three-layered stone coffee table.
Subdued shades that appear all over the home spruced with greens of green life are reminiscent of a calm rainy day that is encouraging a slow, unrushed state of living. Each piece became an object of curiosity, having a story of itself.
